Es Regnet (It rains)

I created this film in 2004 while doing an animation course and having my personal life turned upside down.

Emotionally it was the most difficult year of my life, and a lot of that emotion went into the film, from the abstract subject matter right through to the music. I really enjoyed finding out how much movement and emotion you can create with very few lines. The animation was all drawn (with a tablet) in Flash, and I composed and played the music on my electric piano.

Enjoy!

Yum!

Life has been very busy lately (does it ever stop?) — fortunately the kind of 'busy' that involves lots of creativity, not that kind that stifles it!

Here is a selection of the work I have been doing for two great small businesses, Frangipani's Cakes and Zest Catering (both of which are purveyors of their own special kind of culinary delights). All up these projects included food photography, two websites, business cards, logos (including a custom font for Frangipani's Cakes), posters and promotional brochures. You can see the Zest Catering website here, and Frangipani's updated site will be going live soon. I'll add more links and pics as they are completed.

Of course there have also been the usual backyard creative pursuits — recent changes include making home-made pasta, building a reclaimed garden shed with a chicken coop in the corner and extending the chicken run to fertilise some future-veggie-patch soil (we're now getting 4 eggs a day from 4 chooks). In fact, I think the shed almost warrants its own post. Coming soon to a theatre near you!

Bon appétit! :)

Back on stage!

After a hiatus of several years I finally had an opportunity to get back on stage again at the Adelaide Fringe show Escape from Eden (see my previous post). I played Will, the self-righteous son of Jim and Rhonda Coretsis, proud owners of the Central Market fruit stall "Garden of Eden", and older brother to the free-spirited Eva, who decides to take her half of the family fortune and go and run off to find herself...

I'm not usually "a passive-aggressive time-bomb waiting to explode! ... a classic A-type personality starring in his own b-grade movie version of the Apprentice"...

...but it was fun being one for a few nights!

Big thanks to my friend Cindy Lee for the pics! You can see more of her fab photos from the show on her Smugmug site. (Used with permission).

Adelaide Fringe 2010 - Escape from Eden

I've had my hand in a few pies this Fringe...

First I entered a design for the annual poster competition. This design was based on an idea I had in 1999 while working on a physics presentation (that's a story for another day).

Then I did the promo video for our Fringe show, Escape from Eden (plus some in-show multimedia) - and now I'm in the show! Final show on Friday 12th March, by the way!

Here are a couple of designs I did recently for a Canadian cupcake business and a bicycle-based business catering company in Northern Ireland. Enjoy!
